How do I know if it is allergy or infection?

Allergy itches and causes no fever, the mucus is clear, and symptoms return at the same time of year or in the same place. If there is fever or the mucus thickens and changes color, it is probably an infection.

Why did my allergies start right after moving to Houston?

Will an antibiotic clear up my allergies?

How to tell it from an infection

Allergy **itches**: nose, eyes, throat, palate. Infections usually do not itch.
Allergy **does not cause fever**. If there is fever, it is something else.
Allergic mucus is **clear and runny**; with an infection it usually thickens and changes color.
Allergy **comes back the same way**: same season, same place, same animal.
