What each panel measures
- **Glucose and A1C.** Glucose is a snapshot of the moment; A1C reflects your average over the past two to three months and cannot be dressed up by eating well the night before.
- **Lipid panel.** Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides. What matters is not the total but the relationship between LDL and HDL.
- **Metabolic panel.** Sodium, potassium, creatinine and liver enzymes: how your kidneys and liver are coping.
- **Complete blood count.** Red cells, white cells and platelets. Picks up anemia and ongoing infection.
- **Thyroid (TSH).** Fatigue, weight changes, constant cold or hair loss that get blamed on stress.
Fasting: when and when not
For a **lipid panel and fasting glucose**, yes — 8 to 12 hours without food; water is fine. For **A1C, thyroid and complete blood count**, no. When in doubt, come fasting in the morning: you can always eat afterward, never the other way around.
Do not stop your medication on your own before a test. Ask us first.
When results are ready
We explain them in your language and, if you have tested with us before, **we compare them against your previous results**. That comparison is what actually guides decisions: a cholesterol of 210 means one thing if last year you were at 240, and something very different if you were at 180.
